Providing comfort, connection, and meaningful support to people in our communities when they need it most. At Fidelitas, we believe some of the most meaningful acts of service begin with something simple: showing another person that they are not alone.
Our mission is to reduce suffering and provide comfort to individuals and families experiencing difficult times. We turn compassion into direct, tangible assistance by bringing members of the community together to serve others.
Our Programs
Through Blankets of Comfort, Fidelitas brings warmth and connection to people undergoing cancer treatment. Middle and high school students, volunteers, and community members come together to create handmade fleece blankets that are donated to local cancer treatment centers. More than something to keep warm, each blanket is a tangible reminder that a community of people cares and stands beside someone during a difficult chapter of life.
Through School Supplies & Family Connection, Fidelitas helps children with an incarcerated parent begin the school year prepared and supported. Working with custodial agencies, Fidelitas provides school and grade-appropriate supplies while creating an opportunity for parents to remain connected to an important moment in their child's life. When appropriate, packages can include a personal message from the parent offering encouragement and support, making each delivery about more than school supplies. It becomes a meaningful connection between parent, child, and community.
Our Impact
Fidelitas is a young organization with a growing mission. The organization has established a Board of Directors and completed the organizational steps described in its founding materials to begin moving from planning into direct community service. One of its early school-supply efforts was being developed to assist 25+ children of individuals in the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections.
